Northwest Ohio Authors Host Books for Babies to Support Austin’s Book Club

Perrysburg, Ohio | 27 April, 2019: – Local author organization, Northwest Ohio Authors, in conjunction with Perrysburg’s only independent bookstore, Gathering Volumes, invites community members in the Toledo area to join them in supporting Austin’s Book Club at their Books for Babies event on Saturday April 27, 2019 in the empty lot adjacent to Gathering Volumes. For more information about the event, attendees are encouraged to visit http://bit.ly/BooksforBabiesEvent

Books for Babies, sponsored by Northwest Ohio Authors and Gathering Volumes, will benefit Austin’s Book Club, a charity that provides NICU families at Toledo Children’s Hospital with books to read to their newborns. This is often the only way these families can spend time with their babies who are receiving life-sustaining care. Austin’s Book Club also sends each family home with a book when their baby is discharged, encouraging early literacy.

Books for Babies begins at 10 AM and ends at 4 PM. In addition to local authors having their books for sale in a tent in the parking lot adjacent to Gathering Volumes, there will be raffle baskets ranging from children’s books and games to a grand-prize basket that will contain works from local authors and a gift certificate to Gathering Volumes. All proceeds from the raffle baskets directly benefit Austin’s Book Club. Austin’s Book Club will be present at the event if you are interested in learning more about this important local charity.

Want to browse books or get a crepe from Lyle’s Crepes? Local children’s author, Kelly Jean Lietaert will be running children’s activities to allow them to enjoy the event as much as their parents.

“This event is important to Northwest Ohio Authors because giving back to the community—particularly through a charity that supports early literacy, like Austin’s Book Club—is important because it shows that authors are not only outsiders who write about their communities, they’re invested in the bettering of those communities. This is our first year of working with a charity to produce an event in conjunction with Gathering Volumes’ Independent Bookstore Day event and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Jamie Gibbs, the Assistant Planning Chair for Books for Babies.
