Promedica Community Events in May

ProMedica will offer the following community events in May:

Aromatherapy
Discuss the special ways that essential oils can be used for everyday health and wellness. This program is free to people with a cancer diagnosis and is sponsored by ProMedica Cancer Institute. Aromatherapy takes place the first and third Wednesday of each month. Call the Victory Center at 419-531-7600 for details.

Scale Down Seminar
Are you ready to diet differently? ProMedica’s Scale Down Weight Management Program is easy-to-follow. This supplemental diet plan helps you lose weight safely with a long-term maintenance program to keep the weight off. During this hour-long session, you will be able to hear about the HMR Program and success stories from patients both in and out of our clinic. Allow an additional 30 minutes of time after the presentation if you have additional questions and for signing up. The seminar is free but registration is required. BE FAST 5K Run/Walk
ProMedica Stroke Network is hosting a BE FAST 5K run or 1-mile walk with Dave’s Running at Ottawa Park. The event will honor northwest Ohio’s stroke survivors and their family members during stroke awareness month. Come join us to celebrate survivors and to learn more about stroke prevention. The registration fee is $20 per participant until 11:59 on 4/25/2019 and increases to $25 per participant on 4/26/19. Registration is free for stroke survivors. All proceeds go directly into a Stroke Patient Assistance Fund that covers cost of medications, health equipment, health supplies, transportation and rent/utilities for patients with limited financial needs because of a stroke. Your entry includes entrance to the run/walk, snacks, drinks, apparel, a stroke assessment, a blood pressure screening, and stroke educational material. Spotlight on Stroke: A Night of Education and Awareness
ProMedica Bay Park Hospital and Kingston Healthcare Company presents Spotlight on Stroke, a community stroke prevention, and education event. There will be carotid screenings, balance screenings, blood pressure checks, cholesterol screenings, and stroke risk assessments. Light refreshments will be served. Alzheimer’s Support Group
ProMedica Memorial Hospital is hosting a monthly Alzheimer’s support group. This group is for family members, friends and patients as they navigate through the complexity of the illness. It is an opportunity to get support from others who are experiencing the trials and tribulations of dementia. Hernia Education Session
ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital General Surgery is hosting a hernia education session. Do you suffer from nausea, pain or discomfort in the groin area, a bulge or pressure in the lower abdomen? Learn what you can do to relieve hernia-related symptoms. Dr. Justin Chamberlain and Dr. Michael Charboneau will provide education about the latest hernia treatment options, including minimally invasive surgery. Get back to the things you love quickly. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on demonstration of the da Vinci Surgical System. Refreshments will be provided. Bariatric Seminar – First Step
ProMedica Weight Loss is hosting free bariatric seminars. Attending an in-person seminar is your first step in the journey toward weight loss surgery. Nursing Mothers Support Group
ProMedica Toledo Hospital’s women’s services is hosting a breastfeeding support group for nursing mothers. Do you have breastfeeding questions? Drop in and receive support from a certified lactation consultant and other nursing mothers. The group meets the second Tuesday of every month. For more information, call 419-291-5666.

ProMedica Dementia Education Series
ProMedica’s Goerlich Center is offering free dementia education sessions for family members, caregivers, friends, and community members. ProMedica experts will provide insight, strategies, techniques and care approaches for managing the course of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. A Certified Dementia Practitioner will provide free adult day care supervision and recreational activities during the event. Light refreshments will be provided. This series takes place on the second Tuesday of each month. Pre-registration is requested, but not required. Healthy, Wealthy and Wise Health Fair
Please join ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital for their 17th annual Healthy, Wealthy and Wise Health Fair. Brews and Bros – Raising Awareness of Men’s Health
ProMedica Foundations is hosting Brews and Bros, an event that raises awareness of men’s health and supports ProMedica’s Barbershop Program that helps in the early detection of prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, hypertension, diabetes and obesity in men. Gentlemen, please join ProMedica President and CEO, Randy Oostra, at the Toledo Museum of Art Glass Pavilion. Complimentary parking is available at Lot #6 off of Parkwood Avenue. Women’s Cancer Support Group
ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital’s Cancer Center is hosting a cancer support group for women who have a cancer diagnosis. It is a safe harbor to come to give or receive support. The group meets the third Tuesday of each month and provides education, encouragement, and sharing in an informal social environment. Guest speakers who are compassionate professionals specializing in cancer issues may occasionally be invited. Come, share, and receive encouragement, love, compassion, hope, laughter and much more!

Golden Threads Senior Expo
ProMedica Memorial Hospital’s Golden Threads Senior Program invites you to a senior health and fitness expo. Local businesses will be on-site to provide information on services available with a primary focus on health awareness. Some vendors will offer senior-related services. There will be breakout speakers and one keynote speaker after lunch on home safety. There will also be a canine demonstration with law enforcement. There is a $9 admission fee.
