Pizza Palooza Media Day will take place on Tuesday, July 16th at Noon at Grogan’s Towne in celebration of the 9th Annual Pizza Palooza event! The 9 competing pizza vendors will be announced, and event sponsors will be recognized. All media is invited and encouraged to attend. Complimentary pizza from the 9 competing vendors will be on hand for a sampling of what is to come at the main event.

WHO HAS THE BEST PIZZA IN NORTHWEST OHIO? That question will be answered on July 19th & 20th at the Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce and Centennial Terrace’s 9th annual Pizza Palooza presented by Grogan’s Towne, Sofo Foods and ProMedica Flower Hospital. The event will take place at Centennial Terrace, 5773 Centennial Rd. Sylvania, Ohio on Friday, July 19th, from 5:00PM-11:00PM and Saturday,
July 20th, from 4:00PM-11:00PM.

An estimated crowd of over 12,000 guests is expected to attend and vote for their favorite pizza restaurant in this annual contest featuring both people’s and judge’s choice awards. The nine pizza vendors vying for the title of best pizza restaurant in Northwest Ohio include Amie’s Pizza Factory, Bambino’s Pizza & Subs, Cameo Pizza, Dandino’s, J-Cups Pizza, Jet’s Pizza, Mama Mary’s, Red Eye Pie and
new this year, The Stubborn Brother Pizza. Guests will also be able to satisfy their sweet tooth at booths set up by Handel’s Ice Cream and Olde Tyme Kettle Korn.

Voting will take place on location via iPad. Event-goers are given one vote for the duration of the event. Attendees can vote on site both Friday and Saturday via iPad at the Voting Booth sponsored by
Heartland at ProMedica. Voting will close at 9:00PM Saturday and People’s Choice Awards will be
awarded after votes are tallied by VZN Group, LLC.

New this year, the event is honoring long-time participant Jim Jacob, founder of JCups Pizza who lost his battle with cancer earlier this year by presenting the Inaugural “Jim Jacob Strength & Spirit Award.” The staff of the Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce and Centennial Terrace will identify the individual, pizza vendor or sponsor who shows great sportsmanship, outstanding attitude, sense of comradery, and high integrity, all characteristics that Jim possessed each year at Pizza Palooza and in his daily character.

Two rounds of Pizza Eating contests will take place including the Inaugural Ghost Pepper Challenge on
Friday at 7:45. Contestants will be given a personal pan size pizza with a hidden ghost pepper. The first person to eat the entire pizza will win the competition. Additionally, the 3rd Annual Pizza Eating Challenge will take place on Saturday at 7:45pm. Contestants will have 10 minutes to eat 2 large, thin crust cheese pizzas. The first contestant to finish or the person to eat the most will win. The reigning People’s Choice Champion, Amie’s, will be providing all pizzas for the contests.
