Franciscan Center announces August events

Friday, August 2
iDance Adaptive Performing Arts Center presents “Shine the Light on Abilities 2019: Blue Jean Ball” at 6:30pm. This event includes dinner, live music, silent and live auction and a surprise celebrity bartender. $50 in advance; $65 at the door. Thursday, August 8
The Sylvania Franciscan Village presents the Fr. James Bacik Lecture Series Bridging the Globalist-Nationalist Divide: Christian Perspectives, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. This lecture examines the ambiguities of both the ongoing process of worldwide globalization and the new forms of nationalism in the United States. Catholic social teachings provide helpful perspectives for evaluating these trends and searching for common ground. $10 in advance; $15 at the door. Lifelong Learning presents its Fall Kickoff: A Discussion of Current Affairs with Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur at 11:00am. Lunch served at Noon. Congresswoman Kaptur is currently serving her 19th term in the House of Representatives, making her the longest-serving woman in U.S. Congress. Butterflies 15 hosts The Ball: Breaking the Chains of Human Trafficking, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Event includes dinner, silent auction and entertainment by “Overton Project” featuring Carmen Miller.
