Voices from Wood County’s Past: The Wood County Paupers’ Cemetery

On Wednesday, August 14 at 6:30 p.m., Way Library will be the venue for a sneak peek of the 16th annual Living History Day portrayals sponsored by the Wood County Historical Center. The full Living History program will take place on August 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Paupers’ Cemetery in Bowling Green.

Local residents will honor those buried at the Wood County Paupers’ Cemetery with first-person dramatic interpretations of administrators and residents affiliated with the Wood County Infirmary. Honorees for 2019 were chosen to coincide with the Historical Center’s current exhibit For Comfort & Convenience: Public Charity in Ohio by Way of the Poor Farm. The exhibit is on display at the Historical Center through December 20, 2019 and features documentary photography coupled with histories about poor farm sites throughout all 88 Ohio counties.

The preview presentation at Way Library is free and open to the public without registration. Refreshments will be served.
