Retirement Fair Returns to Maumee Senior Center April 29

MAUMEE, OH --Considering retirement and don’t know where to begin? Looking for the latest expert advice on Social Security? Then the Maumee Senior Center’s Retirement Fair on April 29, 2026 from 3:30-7 p.m. has all of the answers!

The retirement fair kicks off with the “Tips for Social Security in 2026,” presentation by Erin Thompson, Public Affairs Specialist from the Social Security Administration , beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the Maumee Senior Center, 2430 S. Detroit Ave., Maumee.

“We are so excited to have Erin present this year. Retiring is a major transition in one’s life and so many people don’t know how to even begin the process,” said Malinda Ruble, Executive Director of the Maumee Senior Center. “With the help of Erin and all of the vendors with local resources, retiring just got a little easier.”

This free event is focused on the needs of new retirees and those considering retirement in the future. The resource fair takes place from 4-7 p.m. and is a one-stop shop of local professionals with tips on how to enjoy retirement and move onto the next chapter in life. The retirement fair will offer information from local vendors regarding finances, insurance, employment, volunteering, fitness, hobbies and more.

“We are offering people a one-stop-shop for retirement issues. Attendees will have a chance to have one-on-one conversations with a local representative to find some answers without going to 20 different websites to compare information,” Ruble said. “If you’re looking for answers to questions like ‘When should I retire? Do I need supplemental insurance? What can I do to take better care of myself at my age? Should I get a part-time job or volunteer? What am I going to do with the rest of my life?’ then the retirement fair is where you want to be.”

This event is designed for people 50-70 years of age. “This is an excellent opportunity to meet with local experts from investment firms such as Foguth Financial Group, the Lucas County Auditor’s Office, realtors, Medicare experts, physical and mental health services experts, resume writing and local resources professionals as well as non-profits with volunteering opportunities and so much more,” Ruble said.

“New this year, we’ve added food trucks and raffles! People attending the event will receive two raffle tickets which will be placed in the drawing for a family Imagination Station 4-pack of tickets, valued at $70! This would be a great prize for anyone!” Ruble said.

And those retirees who visit all vendors and complete the Passport to Retirement booklet will be eligible for the Grand Prize Basket drawing. The Grand Prize includes a free family membership to the Toledo Zoo, valued at $125, 2-tickets to African Safari, valued at $70, gift cards and a free 30-minute private Sound Bath service.

“This will be a fun night for everyone! Come out to get your retirement questions answered by the experts, enjoy dinner at Naan Stop Kebap and City Soda and have a chance to win some amazing prizes for your summer family adventures,” Ruble said.

In addition, supporters like Foguth Financial Group, Walker Funeral Homes & Crematory and Jar Insurance, and all of the vendors help to make this free event a successful fundraiser for the Maumee Senior Center and a valuable resource for the community. The Maumee Senior Center is a registered 501(c)3 organization which provides services and programs for seniors.
