Race for the Cure
Sunday, September 30th marks the 14th annual Komen Northwest Ohio Race for the Cure. Race Day includes a 5K Run/ Walk, (one mile) Family Fun Walk, Kids Run inside Fifth Third Field for kids ages 5-10, and more!
The Race course follows Summit Street north from Lafayette, crosses Bush, south on Huron and finishes at Fifth Third Field.
Online registration is available at www.komennwohio.org. Entry forms will be available at Northwest Ohio Ford dealerships, area Kroger store, banks and doctors' offices. Call 419-843-1789 to request that a form be mailed to you.
Kids for the Cure is an hands on activity area inside the ballpark following the Race for younger children.
The third annual Kids Run takes place at 10:30 on the warning track on the field. 5-7 year olds have the opportunity to run around the track once; 8-10 year olds will make two trips around. A special kid-designed Kids Run tshirt is a must to participate; entry fee for this event is $10.
Race registration is $25 for all ages who would like to run with a competitive, timed chip.
Registration for adults, 15 and older is $25
Registration for youth, 14 and younger is $15 (not timed, no chip)
Registration for Sleep In for the Cure is $25 -- the shirt is special (XL only) and shows your support for the Race when you\'re not a runner or in town for the event.
New to the Race this year is an educational component targeting our young adults to raise awareness of breast health. I Am The Cure. cheer leaders in bright green shirts will pump excitment and energy into the crowd on the course.
The National Race presenting sponsor is Yoplait; local presenting sponsor is the Northwest Ohio Ford Dealers. Additional national Race sponsors include: American Airlines, Coldwater Creek, Energizer, Ford, New Balance and Quilted Northern. Our local Pink Ribbon sponsor is Kroger.
