The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library’s West Toledo Branch, 1320 Sylvania Ave., is offering parents a new way to bond with their babies. The branch will offer two upcoming classes in its New Parent Series allowing parents to do yoga, massage and meditation with their infants.

The next class, Massage for Me and My Baby, is scheduled at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, where Toledo Hospital nurse Margie Smith will introduce parents and babies to techniques of infant massage. Smith says these methods of massage help babies sleep better, as well as nurture mental and physical growth. Registration for this class begins Monday, February 4.

The final installment in the series welcomes back Yoga instructor Jenn McCullough, who kicked off the series last week, as she teaches meditation techniques meant to help parents and babies relax and relieve stress. This last segment, titled Baby and Me Meditation, begins at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 29. Registration for the meditation class begins Monday, March 10. Both classes are free to parents and babies.

Parents are asked to bring a blanket, and large towel or yoga mat to each class. Parents attending the February 23 massage class are asked to bring a pillow as well.

We liked going to massage class with our baby, and it really feel to me as a very important part in the parent baby bond.
