Debby Peters Announces: Julie Cantu Wins Networking Contest
Toledo, Ohio. Debby Peters, owner of Certified Networker of Ohio, Ltd. (CN), announces that Julie Cantu recorded the most one-to-one networking sessions in the contest that CN sponsored in conjunction with International Networking Week™.
Cantu, owner of Innovative Marketing Design and a Certified Networker graduate, adopted an innovative approach to her networking sessions. Specializing in the design of marketing products for the restaurant business, she chose to learn more about her target market by working as the day manager at her client’s recently opened Ottawa Inn in Ottawa Lake, Michigan. Using some of the downtimes during the day, she invites restaurant suppliers, referral partners and clients to meet with her at the restaurant. “By being intentional about this, I’ve been able to make referrals to these people and have doubled my network in three months. It also helps me spread the word about the restaurant,” Cantu said.
Because Cantu works at the Ottawa Inn at lunchtime, she was not available to receive her prize during the CN February luncheon. Peters presented Cantu with her prize during a Certified Networker training class where Cantu was able to share her networking successes with the CN students. “I am proud of Julie’s accomplishment and was pleased to present her with the $100 prize. She completed 21 one-to-ones in our five-day contest. Nineteen people competed with a total of 145 one-to-one sessions,” Peters said.
Peters also salutes networking results in the Findlay area. Lisa Smith, Farmers Insurance and a Certified Networker graduate, was first runner-up in the contest. “I used the contest to create a guest day for EBN, a referral-based networking group. We welcomed 18 participants who each had the opportunity to connect with five other individuals. Many good referrals were made during and since the mixer,” Smith said.
“Relationship building is key to growing your business or organization. Our contest celebrates and promotes the importance of meeting one-to-one with people you intend to help as a vital aspect of building these relationships. This was the second year for our contest and there have been great successes in both years,” Peter said.
The goal of Certified Networker is to stamp out cold calls and evolve a community of profitable referral partners. CN graduates are often heard to ask, “How can I help you?” and, with their CN training, they are usually able to assist.
