The service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 11 2008, 7:00 p.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 915 N. Reynolds Rd., Toledo. “The face of hunger in the Toledo area may come as a surprise to many people,” said Mr. James M. Caldwell, President & CEO of the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank, Inc. “It’s a disgrace that we are living in a day when millions of adults, hard working families with children, and seniors are forced to make difficult choices between food and daily necessities in every community of the United States.”
One in 10 Americans is unsure where their next meal will come from. Our participation in Hunger Action Month, along with nearly 200 Feeding America food banks, is a call to all Americans to get involved locally to bring an end to hunger right in our hometown.
This interactive service will feature stunning presentations from religious leaders, youth groups, dancers and choirs. You can be a part of the solution to end hunger by participating in the Third Annual Interfaith Hunger Awareness Service: “The Face of Hunger Will Surprise You,” on Sept. 11, 2008, 7:00 p.m. A truck from the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank, Inc. will be on-site to accept your free will offering/donation of non-perishable food and personal care items.

I am working on my Masters Degree and plan on doing my thesis on community food banks. I am interested in, one day, being able to provide "food" to those in need. "Food" is being used in a broad term. Not only do I want to eliminate community starvation, I want to provide food for the mind. A lot of low income people will be able to obtain promotions at their current job, or get better jobs, if they are able to acquire additional job skills and training. I hope to be able to provide food for the body and mind.
Toledo Food Bank does great things for our community, I can only hope that one day I can play a part in that too!
