MADONNA HOMES DISPLAYS SOLAR PANELS AT FINAL OPEN HOUSE
TOLEDO, OHIO – On October 17th at 1:00 pm, Madonna Homes will display newly-installed solar panels at their downtown facility during the final open house of this year sponsored by the Toledo Catholic Diocese.
“This will save so much money on our heating and it is a really big deal since Madonna Homes will be one of the first sizeable solar hot water installations for a subsidized property in Northwest Ohio,” says Tracey Franklin, Building Manager for Madonna Homes.
The solar panels and hot water installations, mounted by Dove Tail, will feature 48 Heliodyne, Gobi 410 collectors feeding an existing domestic hot water boiler. The project is funded by a $62,000 grant from State of Ohio, the Toledo Catholic Diocese and the Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Downsizing from 194 units to 171, Madonna Homes has recently renovated the facility, originally built in 1970, enlarging many of its room and adding new amenities to improve the atmosphere and living experience. Some of these amenities include updated computer labs, a new lending library, appealing landscaping, a refurbished community room, an updated kitchen,
and a laundry room on each floor in addition to many other home comforts. “To see the change from what it was to what it is now ... it’s like a whole new place,” says Franklin.
The final open house of the year will begin with a performance by Central Catholic High School’s choir and will include tours of the newly refurbished building, a presentation about the new solar panels produced by The University of Toledo, complimentary food and drink for
attendants, and a closing performance by Wait High School’s choir.
Mayor Carty Finkbeiner and Bishop Leonard Blair from the Catholic Diocese of Toledo will be present at the final open house and official unveiling of the solar panels, and Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates John McCain, Barack Obama, Joe Biden Sarah Palin have also been invited to attend the momentous occasion.
This free and open to the public event will begin at 1:00 p.m. and conclude at 2:00 p.m. For more information about the open house or Madonna Homes, please contact the facility at 419. 244.3758.
