HOMER FOR THE HOLIDAYS: WATERCOLORS BY WINSLOW HOMER AT TMA

On November 14, the Toledo Museum of Art opens the exhibition Homer for the Holidays: Watercolors by Winslow Homer from The Art Institute of Chicago, featuring ten watercolors on loan from The Art Institute of Chicago, two watercolors from the TMA collection, and one Homer oil painting also from the TMA collection. The exhibition will be on view in Gallery 18 through February 8, 2009. Exhibition admission is free.

Winslow Homer is often considered the foremost American artist of the 19th century. An accomplished painter, a draftsman, and a printmaker, Homer also created approximately 700 influential watercolors that manifest his primacy among American watercolorists.
