Love Lights Joins Winesburg Weekend Events
Love Lights in 2008 is joining the Winesburg Christmas Weekend celebration. The lighting ceremony will be at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5 at The Eliza Ramsay Home on South Main Street.
Love Lights began in 1998 as a Christmas Memorial Event as well as a fundraiser for Hospice of Memorial Hospital. The event initially took place on the grounds of Memorial Hospital, but after three years, the event was moved to The Eliza Ramsay Home in Clyde, which houses Memorial Home Health & Hospice.
Hospice planted evergreens throughout the acre of frontage on Main Street in Clyde and all the trees as well as deer and landscaping are illuminated at the event. In addition to the lighting of the trees and landscaping, hundreds of luminaries circle the sidewalk in front of The Eliza Ramsay Home. These luminaries are lit in memory or honor of the donor’s loved one. The Hospice Love Lights then stay on display illuminating the holiday evenings until after the New Year.
Proceeds from Love Lights have funded numerous special projects and programs for Hospice of Memorial Hospital such as Hospice’s Heart’s Desire. Hospice’s Heart’s Desire grants a wish for hospice patients who have a need or desire to assist them with life’s closure. Other hospice projects include, massotherapy and aromatherapy for hospice patients and also caregiver baskets for the caregivers.
Hospice also has a program called Caregiver Stipend, which provides financial assistance to patients who have a financial need as well as a need to personal care services in their home.
