Rouge Bistro Presents a Month of Jazz to End 2008
SYLVANIA, Ohio, U.S.A., Dec. 5, 2008 – If the December music schedule is any indication, Rouge Bistro is becoming the choice for jazz in Toledo. The restaurant features jazz performances each Saturday in December, along with a performance planned to welcome in 2009 on New Year’s Eve.
“We’ve long been jazz lovers, and the Toledo market offers some of the best jazz available,” explains Jake Gentry, Rouge manager. “The Rouge Bistro is really the perfect setting for enjoying jazz in this area.”
December entertainment, which begins at 7 p.m. each evening, includes the following performances:
Dec. 6 – Skip Turner Band?
Dec. 13 – Damen Cook & Friends?
Dec. 20 – Ramona Collins?
Dec. 31 – special guest jazz artist
In addition, Rouge will be the setting for a jam session on Sunday, Dec. 7, following a memorial concert for Toledo jazz legend Rusty Monroe at the Maumee Indoor Theatre. The Rouge event will feature the Bob Rex Trio, and begin at 6:30 p.m.
“Rusty embodied jazz in the Toledo market, and gave many musicians their start,” Gentry said. “We hope to carry on her tradition of offering both traditional and innovative new jazz through our program. And we’d be thrilled if we can help the next new artist to find an audience. It would be a great way to continue Rusty’s legacy.”
