Children Survivors of Heart Disease Celebrate Valentines Day with HeART!
On Saturday, February 14th from noon to 2:00pm, Mended Hearts in partnership with ProMedica are hosting a Valentine’s Day craft party at Epworth Church Gymnasium (3077 Valley View Drive, Toledo, Ohio) for children who were born with heart defects. The children and their families will be making personalized hearts in celebration of Heart Month.
The artwork will be framed and auctioned at the American Heart Association’s Glass City Heart Ball being held on March 14th, 2009 at the Hilton Garden Inn at Levis Commons from 6:00 – 11:00 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association to raise funds for research that helps save the lives of numerous children born with heart defects every year.
According to research conducted by the American Heart Association, “Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defect and are the number one cause of death during the first year of life. Nearly twice as many children die from congenital heart disease in the United States each year than from all forms of childhood cancers combined”.
