TARTA Joins City of Toledo with Recycling Receptacle Program

The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority has joined the City of Toledo, Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful, the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo, and SMART BINZ to place refuse and recycling receptacles throughout the Toledo community in an effort to minimize litter and promote recycling. Some of TARTA's busiest bus stops will be at the top of the list for the public-private partnership to be rolled out Earth Day, April 22, 2009.

The SMART BINZ art of recycling program will work with the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo to feature works from a variety of local artists on the receptacles' large panels. Funding for the program will be generated by sponsors of the individual bins to be placed at highly visible locations throughout Toledo. TARTA's other environmentally related arts involvement, Art In TARTA: Restore Planet Earth, is also a partnership with the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo, now in its sixth year.
