Radio Vet Al Kresta To Address Local Catholic Radio Event
Toledo, OH May 6, 2009 — Southeast Michigan-area radio personality Al Kresta will headline Annunciation Radio’s third annual “Friend Raiser” banquet, to be held on Thursday, May 28, at Central Park West in Toledo. Mr. Kresta, president and CEO of Ave Maria Communications, will address the topic, “Why Catholic Radio is Absolutely Necessary.”
During the 1980’s, Mr. Kresta became known in the Detroit area for his “Talk From the Heart” program on a Christian radio station. At the time, he served as pastor of a Protestant church. The questions he faced as a pastor led him on a search that eventually brought him back to the Catholic Church.
Currently, Mr. Kresta hosts the nationally syndicated show “Kresta in the Afternoon” weekdays from 3-6 p.m. A live show featuring interviews and call-ins, the program is heard on 120 stations, including WDEO 990-AM in Ann Arbor, plus Sirius Satellite Radio. Mr. Kresta has also authored and contributed to several books dealing with the Catholic faith.
“We are absolutely delighted to have Al come and speak to us,” said Deacon Michael Learned, president of Annunciation Radio. “He has so much experience in the realm of Catholic broadcasting, and, if you’ve ever heard his show, you know what a terrific speaker he is.” Banquet attendees will also hear an update on significant new developments for local Catholic radio.
Central Park West is located at 3141 W. Central Avenue, Toledo. Doors to the “Friend Raiser” event will open at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $40 each or $75 per couple and must be purchased in advance.
