Congresswoman Kaptur set to visit Main Library on April 13th
The Honorable Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D, OH-9th district) is scheduled to experience the other side of the Library Circulation desk on Monday, April 13, when she serves as a ‘Very Special Guest’ at Main Library, 325 Michigan St., in downtown Toledo.
Rep. Kaptur is scheduled to assist patrons with checking out their books and other materials immediately following the Library’s Government Documents Depository celebration, scheduled at noon in the McMaster Lobby (see attachment). Rep. Kaptur and other government officials will be present for this free, public affair, which celebrates the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library for 125 years as a Federal documents depository. After this observance, Rep. Kaptur is scheduled to visit Main’s Circulation desk around 1 p.m. and work the counter for one hour with librarians and clerks to assist patrons with checking out their materials.
Clyde Scoles, Library Director, said, “This ‘Very Special Guest’ series has become vital to the interaction between patrons and local leaders that we so pride. We are honored to have Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur participate in both our documents depository celebration, and as a Very Special Guest working the Circulation desk.”
The Library started its ‘Very Special Guest’ series last November when Ohio Senator Mark Wagoner (R, Toledo) was invited to Main Library to assist patrons with checking out items. Ohio House of Representative Barbara Sears (R, Sylvania) followed with a visit in January to the Sylvania Branch Library, and Ohio Senator Teresa Fedor (D, Toledo) visited Main in February. Last month, Toledo City Councilman George Sarantou visited Main’s Circulation desk and at noon on Friday, April 17, Toledo City Councilman Joe McNamara, a former Library board member, is scheduled to visit Main Library as a Very Special Guest.
