An exciting evening of song and dance, capped with the appearance of recording star Tymara Spears and local dance sensation, Tyree Bell. Ms. Spears is the national winner of the 2008 Marvin L.Winans Survivor Competition. She also regularly performs and tours with national gospel star and producer, J Moss. Tyree Bell, a junior at Scott High School, is electrifying audiences throughout the region with his exciting dance renditions. The talent agency Star Bound has selected and will represent Mr. Bell this summer as he launches his New York career.
A Kaleidoscope of Music showcases music for nearly every taste and will engage your mind, soul, and imagination. This is a program that will leave your heart pounding and your toes tapping.
THE CLARENCE SMITH COMMUNITY CHORUS
Concluding its 33rd season, the CSCC maintains a liberal helping of standard classical music in its repertoire. However, it specializes in the performance of Negro spirituals and is dedicated to its preservation as well as the performance of works by African American composers. Its members come from all walks of life, unified by their mutual love of great music. This award-winning ensemble has performed numerous times on radio and television and has appeared with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, the Toledo Jazz Orchestra, and on programs presented by the Toledo Museum of Art, the Lourdes College Music Series, as well as on the University of Michigan’s “Music of Black Americans Symposium.” The Chorus has embraced its civic role with participation in countless building and bridge dedications, community festivals, church programs and city events, including the Toledo’s Annual M. L. King Celebration at the University of Toledo. The CSCC is a past recipient of the “Community Impact Award” and the prestigious “Community Achievement in the Arts Award” from the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo. In 2007, the CLARENCE SMITH COMMUNITY CHORUS was presented with the “Longevity Award” at the Glass City Gospel Music Awards ceremony. #
