Walk For Wildlife 2009
Nature’s Nursery will host its first “Walk For Wildlife” on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the Blue Creek Conservation Area, 7790 Schadel Rd., Whitehouse. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with the walk following at 10 a.m. The event will be held rain or shine.
Participants will travel along a one-mile course, stopping along the way for on-going programs and activities at education stations sponsored by Nature’s Nursery and its partner organizations, including the Metroparks of the Toledo Area, Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District, Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists, and Lourdes College Life Lab.
“Walk for Wildlife is ideal for kids and adults alike since you walk at your own pace,” explains event chairman Denise Gehring. “The various stations along the walking route will offer participants an opportunity to see all kinds of wildlife up close, and to take part in a variety of nature-based activities.”
Individuals, families and groups or teams are all invited to participate. Walkers are asked to raise at least $20 in pledges. Contributions are tax-deductible. To register, simply fill out and return the registration form found on Nature’s Nursery’s website: www.natures-nursery.org.
Walk For Wildlife is a “green” event:
? Participants are asked to carpool. Parking is limited.
? It is not necessary to bring throw-away water bottles. Walkers will receive water in a take-home BPA-free 32 oz. water bottle.
? Participants are welcome to stay and picnic after the event, but are being asked to pack out their trash.
