Toledo Lighthouse Waterfront Festival Set for Mid July
The Toledo Lighthouse Waterfront Festival features an island experience on the mainland. The festival offers boat rides, $15 per ticket first come first serve, around the lighthouse on the Victory, a restored Cedar Point boat, nautical arts and crafts, a lighthouse photo contest, a sand castle contest, clam chowder contest , children’s \airborne rides and games, and entertainment. The event is at Maumee Bay State Park on Saturday and Sunday July 11th and 12th. The festival is from 10-8 on Saturday and 10-6 on Sunday. The event offers free admission and parking. There is a very large silent auction that features restaurant certificates, lighthouses etc.
The waterfront entertainment ranges from a magician for the kids to a Great Lakes writer and composer to Steel Drums and a Bonker’s Beachboy’s Concert followed by fireworks.
The lighthouse is served and promoted by a nearly 400 member all volunteer Toledo Lighthouse Society members that are working to restore the Toledo lighthouse so people can visit it. The lighthouse is a one of a kind buff brick rolled steel roof 400 square foot structure. There are seventy windows that rise 64’ out of the water. The view from the top is spectacular. The original lighthouse Fresnel lens is featured in the lobby of the lighthouse. Access to the lighthouse is being worked on. In April 2009 the dock and ramp installed in 2008 disappeared. The ramp has just been located but the dock remains lost.
The lighthouse festival venue draws thousands who are lighthouse lovers coming hundreds of miles along with many local people who like the boat ride and the music.

We have a college group meeting at Maumee St. Park on Sept. 13th thru the 16th. Is there anyway we can arrange to tour around the lighthouse - we are a group of about 14 and none of us is familiar with the Toledo area. If you have any recommedations we also would appreciate those. Please feel free to phone me at 419-610-4297 any time. Thanks, Pam
