Wood Co. Humane Society Mutt Strut: August 8th at Ft Meigs

Posted: Saturday, July 11, 2009 by: Jacqui Nathan | Category: Events

The Wood County Humane Society is hosting its annual Mutt Strut on Saturday, August 8, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Ft. Meigs State Memorial Park, 29100 W. River Rd., Perrysburg. Registration starts at 9:30 am. This popular event is a major fundraiser for the humane society.

“Walkers - with or without dogs - are needed to ‘strut their stuff’ to help raise money to care for the animals at our Minniebelle Conley Shelter,” stated Jacqui Nathan, President, WCHS. “We really appreciated the community support for this ‘doggone delightful’ event last year, and we are hoping for an even larger turnout this year,” she added.

This year’s Mutt Strut will include raffles, games and contests, including the popular Beauty Pawgeant. Vendors may set up tables along the route for a nominal fee.

Individuals may walk with a pet or one of the shelter dogs or they may choose to walk with a family member or friend – or even a brave cat or parrot. Walkers who collect $50 or more in pledges will receive a 2009 WCHS Mutt Strut t-shirt. The top fundraisers for both adult and child categories will receive prize packages, and all walkers will receive ‘goodie bags’ with coupons and samples from local businesses.

Pledge forms are available at the Wood County Humane Society, 801 Van Camp Road during regular business hours: Wednesday to Sunday, 12 noon - 4 p.m. and Thursday, 12 noon - 7 p.m.; and at the following local businesses: The Flying Bean in Levis Commons, Jones Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Ernsthausen’s Veterinary Clinic in Bowling Green. They are also available online at www.WoodCountyHumaneSociety.com

Join the fun and come out and support this worthwhile cause. All proceeds will provide support to Wood County animals in need.
