Lourdes College is pleased to announce that it will host the 2009 Ohio Private Academic Libraries (OPAL) conference. This year, OPAL is taking on tough economic times with its theme “Think Outside the Book: Do More With Less.” The OPAL conference will take place in the Franciscan Theatre & Conference Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, August 7.

Throughout the conference, guests will attend a variety of sessions on LibGuides, tips and tricks and the basics on attending an Elluminate session. Keynote speaker Annette Lamb, Professor for the School of Library and Information Science at Indiana University, will give the following presentations:

Get Graphic: Visual Tools & Resources for Deep Thinking, Inquiry & Learning
Recipes for Success: Information Age Approaches to Spice up Your Library Program
Sequential Art, Technology & the Academic Library: Digital Comics and Graphic Novels Aren’t Just for Kids?

On Thursday, August 6, Lourdes will host a special reception for those arriving early. The College will entertain guests with a show in the Appold Planetarium, a performance by the Drama Society and an ice cream social.
