On Labor Day, September 7th, Northwest Ohio will join over 250 communities across the United States will gather for public potlucks to take part in the Time for Lunch National Eat-In. This event will take place from 1-4pm at the Ward Pavillion at Wildwood Park. Everyone in Northwest Ohio is invited to bring a potluck dish to share to Wildwood Metropark. This day of action will call on Congress to pass a Child Nutrition Act that gives schools the resources to serve REAL FOOD for lunch. Slow Food Maumee Valley will present speakers and share ideas to give concerned parents, health professionals, and others opportunities for working with local school districts.

By teaching children healthy eating habits, we put a small investment now that will pay off in the long run with lower health care costs. School cafeterias that purchase locally grown fruits and vegetables are economic engines for developing small business, supporting family farmers and creating jobs in our community. Plus, it’s just the right thing to do for its own sake—let’s feed kids food that’s good, clean and fair.

Slow Food Maumee Valley is an organization that has promotes good, clean and fair food in Northwest Ohio through regular educational and social events.
