Independent Advocates First Annual Independent Action Party

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Independent Advocates, a social-change organization providing comprehensive court advocacy to survivors of domestic violence as well as community education in domestic violence prevention is pleased to announce the “First Annual Independent Action Party“, to be held at the Old Blade Warehouse next to Oliver House at 201 Morris Street in Toledo, Ohio on Saturday October 10, 2009. Tickets for the event are $25 in advance and can be purchased by credit card at or checks can be mailed to P.O. Box 4937 Toledo, OH 43610. Tickets will also be available at the door for $30.

The Old Blade Warehouse which was host to 2009’s Artomatic 419 welcomes the First Annual Independent Action Party from 8 pm -12am on October 10, 2009 with all event proceeds going to support the comprehensive court advocacy and community education Independent Advocates provides to survivors of domestic violence and the community.

In addition to live music from local musicians: Lori Lefevre-Johnson, Kim Buehler, Sarah Cohen, and the Cheap Celebutantes, entertainment will be provided in the form of a silent art auction with pieces donated by local artists, including Richard Reed, Mary Weiss, Katina Zilcomo and several others. Guests will also be wowed by Magician Dorian Grey throughout the evening.
To keep everyone fed, local restaurants and philanthropic cooks will donate appetizers and desserts. There will also be a cash bar. Hourly raffles will ensure that every attendee has the chance to go home a winner with prizes being provided by local independent businesses such as: Culture Clash, Calvino’s, Infinite Art and many more. With all event proceeds supporting Independent Advocates’ non-profit mission to support survivors of domestic violence, The Independent Action Party is a chance to have a fabulous time and support a necessary cause and recognize October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
