New Passenger Rail in Ohio Learning Lunch
The Northwest Ohio Passenger Rail Association (NOPRA), a leading rail advocacy group, is hosting a luncheon and program Friday, October 30, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Levis Commons in Perrysburg. Anyone interested joining NOPRA or curious about the future of passenger rail in Ohio is invited to attend.
At the lunch, a program will provide information about:
3C Corridor evaluation results. A report on anticipated ridership, costs, and funding for the first phase of new passenger rail service in Ohio.
Passenger rail funding update. Plans for investing $7 million authorized for the Ohio Hub.
Attracting Development. Strategies for attracting rail car manufacturing in northwest Ohio.
The lunch and presentation are open to the public. NOPRA particularly invites government officials, business leaders, and economic development professionals. The primary speaker is Matt Dietrich, executive director of the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC). Don Yerks, former ORDC member, chairs NOPRA and will give an update on recent activities. The program also includes remarks from Peter Ujvagi, state representative and chair of the Transportation & Justice subcommittee of the Finance and Appropriations committee. James Carter, president of the Wood County Commissioners, will moderate.
