Toledo Museum of Art Revamps Free Public Tours
The Toledo Museum of Art has revamped its public tours, creating four new series of guided tours. Designed to give visitors an insider’s view of the Museum’s internationally known collections, each tour is led by a Museum Docent.
The new free tours, which start Jan. 3, include:
Inside Stories
Each Friday at 6 and 6:30 p.m., Inside Story tours feature one recent Museum acquisition and the fascinating story behind its origin, how it was acquired, how it fits into the collection, its conservation and more. Meet in Libbey Court.
ArtSpeaks Series
On selected Saturdays at 2 and 3 p.m., ArtSpeaks is a weekly series of three or more related tours. Topics this winter include Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, the art of Egypt, Rome and other ancient empires, and works that explore the seven deadly sins. Meet in Libbey Court.
Storytime Tours
Every Sunday at 2 p.m., Storytime Tours for children and their adult partners spotlight works of art related to the Family Center’s art project that week. After the tour, participants head back at the Center to create their own works of art. Meet at the Family Center or near the Matisse mural at the base of the main staircase on the main Museum’s lower level.
Tour & Tea
At 2 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month, participants in this tour series visit the Museum galleries or the Glass Pavilion to learn about a featured artwork. Continue the conversation with fellow tour participants over a cup of tea or coffee in the Red Room. Tours begin in Libbey Court.
The Museum continues to offer Greatest Hits tours featuring popular highlights of the collections in the main Museum and OurGlass tours of the Glass Pavilion.
