Toledo Community Foundation Awards Grant To Prizm Creative
The Board of Trustees of the Toledo Community Foundation has recently approved a $30,000 grant to PRIZM Creative Community. Toledo Community Foundation President Keith Burwell announced the award in late December. The TCF community funds grant will be used to provide organizational infrastructure to PRIZM’S “Building a Sure Foundation Project.”
The TCF funds make possible PRIZM’S “Foundation Project” by upgrading web site services, purchasing essential operational equipment, and initial salary for part time professional strategic planning and program coordination. PRIZM provides low cost educational opportunities and mentoring for all ages in the creative arts in all medias including visual and literary arts. PRIZM also provides community service including sponsorship of the Salon des Refusés Exhibition for area artists who are not accepted into the annual TAA Show at the Toledo Museum of Art.
Since organizing as a non-profit with the State of Ohio in April 2007, PRIZM has operated with 100% volunteer labor and in October 2008 achieved 501 (c) (3) non-profit status. The”Building a Sure Foundation Project” grant provides PRIZM the structure to meet on-going demands for education, community service, and collaborative work in the arts. Joe Ludwig, PRIZM Board member and grant project chairman said, “We are pleased to accept these funds to help PRIZM provide community education and service via visual and literary arts. The inclusion of the arts in our community builds revenue dollars, and brings beauty and inspiration to our lives.” Mr. Ludwig, the recently retired branch manager of the Maumee Public Library, brings expertise in grant administration and community services to PRIZM’S Board.
The Toledo Community Foundation, Inc is a public charitable organization created by citizens of our community to enrich the quality of life for individuals and families in our area. To help meet matching funds for the grant and to continue sponsoring educational workshops and exhibitions for students, artists, writers, and the general public in the visual and literary arts, PRIZM Creative Community is accepting tax-deductible donations. PRIZM is also seeking sponsorship from local businesses and individuals in order to provide local artists the opportunity to participate in the Toledo “The Salon des Refusés Show.” PRIZM’S yearly exhibition Art-A-Fair will be displayed during May and June at the Toledo-Lucas County Main Library Gallery.
