Toledo Zoo Recruiting Exhibit Guide Volunteers
The Toledo Zoo is recruiting Exhibit Guide volunteers to support educational programming in the Arctic Encounter® and Nature’s Neighborhood exhibits. The Exhibit Guide program, which will run between April and September, is ideal for adults who enjoy interacting with visitors about animals and nature but require flexible scheduling and a limited time commitment. The deadline for application is Monday, March 15, 2010. Exhibit Guides will staff the Arctic Encounter® to support the display of the Zoo’s new polar bear cub. Volunteers will educate the public about polar bears, their natural history and the conservation issues they face currently. In addition, Exhibit Guides will provide support in the Nature’s Neighborhood exhibit, interacting with children and families in the contact yard, stream and guinea pig areas, among others. According to Bill Davis, the Zoo’s Volunteer Coordinator, “the Exhibit Guide Program is a great opportunity to support two marquee exhibits at The Toledo Zoo. Our new polar bear cub will be a big hit with visitors and Nature’s Neighborhood is a premier family destination. And both of these areas will benefit from having friendly, dedicated volunteers answering questions, providing insight and building connections between the visitors, the animals and the Zoo.” The Toledo Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located on the Anthony Wayne Trail (US 25), four miles south of downtown Toledo. For more information, please visit www.toledozoo.org or call (419) 385-4040. Lucas County residents are admitted free of charge each Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. ID showing proof of residency is required.
