ART TEACHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY IN TANZANIA – SUMMER 2010
The Arts Council Lake Erie West and The Great Lakes Consortium for International Training and Development announce a volunteer art teacher opportunity teaching art in either a Primary or Secondary school in Tanzania, East Africa this summer, 2010. Volunteers will also be able to work professionally on their art with Tanzanian artists.

Volunteers will be provided with home-stay or other guest housing that may include meals, laundry, sight-seeing, transportation, studio facilities, and wonderfully warm, open-hearted and hospitable people in established networks in Tanga (Toledo’s sister city), Arusha and Bagamoyo.
Coordinators are looking for the serious and creative art educator who will inspire, are dynamic, open to collaboration with different cultures, flexible, creative, and willing to learn as well as facilitate. The target age for primary through secondary school students is age 7-17. At maximum, volunteers would spend ½ day weekdays teaching in their choice of a primary or secondary school, and the other ½ day in studio ‘master classes’ with adult artists to share ideas, skills, techniques.
Volunteers will need to provide: round-trip air transportation, a Tanzanian visa, inoculations/malaria medications, and incidental and personal expenses. Graduate credit will be available through a Toledo area university at optional expense. Letters of service and accountability will be provided through the Arts Council Lake Erie West/Great Lakes Consortium and collaborating Tanzanian institutions that can be used as program evidence for CEU's.
