New Program for Adolescent Fathers
Concern about teen parents has focused attention almost exclusively on teen mothers. Consequently, teen fathers are often neglected as potential resources for their children. Beginning April 9, Unison Behavioral Health Group will launch an eight-week program to support adolescent fathers who are parents or expecting a child. The program will be held at Unison’s 1425 Starr Avenue site in East Toledo from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Led by Unison’s skilled staff in a confidential and comfortable environment, the program focuses on recognizing boys and young men as critical and valued members of society and aims to improve outcomes for this group. The program will address the unique challenges faced by these young men, including: cost and responsibilities of parenting, community resources and support, understanding a child’s needs, parenting skills, conflict management, role modeling and managing finances. For more information, please call 419-693-0631 or visit Unison’s website at www.unisonbhg.org.
