Minimal Editions: Independent Poetry & Artists’ Books on Exhibit

Looking to start a literary magazine? Minimal Editions is a great place to begin. Take a glimpse into periodical editorship, especially related to the simplicity of design and presentation.

Join us for a reception in “An Evening with Joel Lipman,” Lucas County poet laureate, on Tuesday, April 13, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Main Library Humanities Department. Mr. Lipman will share some of his poems, as well as insight into the exhibit.

This exhibit features a selection of artist’s books by University of Toledo students, with a small array of booklets by Toledo poets. Among the artists represented are Perrysburg native & Bowling Green State University graduate Brian Richards; Toledo printer and poet Timothy Geiger; Bern Porter; and D. A. Levy.

The exhibition is in stark contrast to the approximately half-million neatly shelved volumes in the Main Library. It reflects limited scale, proportions, and resources. Those limitations are particularly well-suited to poetry, which is intimate, direct and personal..

The exhibit is being held at the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library Main Library, 325 Michigan Street, Toledo, through the end of May.
