Tipton’s TSO Farewell Concert is a Star Studded Affair
The Toledo Symphony Orchestra (TSO) presents Chelsea Tipton’s Farewell Concert: The Stars Align for the TSO on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 4 PM at the Stranahan Theater.
Resident Conductor Chelsea Tipton, II, is leaving the TSO and heading to Beaumont Texas to serve as Music Director of the Symphony of Southeast Texas. This performance celebrates Tipton along with some special guest artists: Doc Severinsen (trumpet), Mark O’Connor (violin) and David Shifrin (clarinet). The Toledo Youth Orchestra (TYO) and students of the Toledo Symphony School of Music will join their professional counterparts on stage for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Tipton, conductor and clarinetist, will join Shifrin in clarinet pieces by Mendelssohn and Anderson.
The concert will focus on the educational programs and students of the TSO. The Toledo Symphony’s educational programs are comprehensive, reaching nearly 50,000 students annually.
Toledo Symphony education programs are made possible through the generous support of individuals, corporations, and foundations. The recent award of $100,000 from the Fran and Dick Anderson Community Support Fund of the Toledo Community Foundation has ensured the success of these programs through this tumultuous time.
