Salon Show Registration Open
Registration is now open for the 2010 Salon des Refusés Art Exhibition sponsored by PRIZM Creative Community. This year’s show will be held July 9th through Aug. 20th in the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo’s Parkwood Gallery at 1838 Parkwood Ave. in Toledo.
Area artists who received their Toledo Area Artist show notification from the Toledo Musuem of Art and were not accepted in the TAA Show, but still wish to exhibit their work should contact Salon Show intake chairman Harry Daugherty at [email protected] and visit the PRIZM website @ www.myprizm.com for a prospectus. Those who submit their applications and jpeg images by June 21st will have their images made available to the Press for publicity purposes.
All art work must be delivered to the Parkwood Gallery on Monday June the 28th or Tuesday June the 29th. Late registrations will also be accepted on those days.
The Toledo Salon des Refuses show grew out of the realization that due to the popularity of the TAA Show and the limited space available for display, many outstanding works of art would not be viewed by the public. The Salon des Refusés Show, which in French means “exhibit of rejects,” takes its name from an exhibition held in Paris in 1863 by Napoleon III for those artists whose work had been rejected by the
prestigious Paris Salon.
PRIZM Creative Community is a 501 (c.)(3) nonprofit organization whose work is supported by area art patrons who believe the Arts are an important part of community life. Through June 26h, their yearly members’ exhibition is on display at the Toledo-Lucas County Main Library Gallery, 325 N. Michigan, in Toledo. PRIZM offers quality low cost education to participating members and guests.
