Lakeside’s Hoover Auditorium Announces Summer Season Lineup

Lakeside, Ohio – Lakeside’s Hoover Auditorium features acclaimed entertainment acts to headline throughout the 11-week Chautauqua summer season.

Accomplished pianist, Richard Glazier, will open with “History of the American Popular Song” on Saturday, June 19. The season will continue with the likes of Gregg Rolie, the original lead singer of Santana (June 25), the world renowned Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats (June 26), the comedy of Capitol Steps (July 2), award-winning fiddler Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul (July 3), and returning favorite Mike Albert & the Big “E” Band, performing the “Ultimate Tribute” to Elvis Presley (July 10).

THE MONKEES lead singer MICKY DOLENZ will perform popular songs of the 1960s, including “I’m a Believer,” Pleasant Valley Sunday” and “Stepping Stone” (July 17).

Two-time Grammy award-winner Kathy Mattea will perform new music along with her greatest hits (July 23). Her 2008 album “Coal” combined her social activism with introspective lyrics about coal mining, which she will discuss in a 1:30 p.m. educational seminar (July 23).

One of Hoover Auditorium’s most anticipated concerts of the summer is The Spinners (August 7). The legendary R&B group’s success includes 12 gold records, six Grammy nominations, a Black Gold Award, the Rhythm and Blues Foundation Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Spinners continue to pay tribute to the music of the 1970s, performing such hits as “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love,” “Games People Play” and “Then Came You.”

Hoover Auditorium will welcome back the OSU Alumni Band (July 24) and the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra, opening its summer series on Wednesday, July 28. In its 47th season, the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra will celebrate Robert Cronquist’s 40th year as conductor. The symphony will also perform its 10th annual concert with the Pointe of Departure Ballet (July 31).

The American Tenors will perform on Friday, July 30. (Due to a scheduling conflict, The American Tenors will replace the Celtic Tenors performance).
Other performances include a family-friendly night of comedy with actor and writer Larry Miller (August 13), a multi-media show on the music of Johnny Mercer (August 19), Steve Lippia performing Frank Sinatra’s greatest hits (August 21), and contemporary Christian artist Sara Groves (August 27). The Hoover Auditorium season schedule will end with the 61st Annual Barbershop Quarter Festival, featuring The Men of Independence, 4 Way Stop Quartet and Lightly Seasoned Quartet (September 4).
