Annunciation Radio announces on-air date for 24/7 broadcast
TOLEDO, OH — June 14, 2010 — Deacon Michael Learned, President of
Annunciation Radio, revealed to supporters at a fundraising event on
Saturday, June 5th, 2010, the on-air launch date of Toledo’s first
full-time Catholic radio station. “Because of your prayers and support
over the last 3 ½ years, Annunciation Radio WNOC 89.7 FM will be
broadcasting live 24/7 beginning August 15, 2010 – the Feast of the
Assumption.”
Learned’s announcement to an jubilant crowd of more than 250 guests
who gathered for what was billed as a “launch party” in Maumee, Ohio,
came on the heels of a presentation by keynote speaker Raymond Arroyo,
a New York Times best-selling author and news director at EWTN Global
Catholic Television Network. “[This station] will totally change the
way people understand the Church and their faith,” commented Arroyo.
The last major hurdle — completing construction to its radio
transmission tower — is about to be cleared. “All the rain we’ve
experienced in our area this spring pushed out our tower construction
schedule a bit,” Learned explained to station supporters. “But we’re
back on track and ready to meet our August 15th on-air date.”
Listeners can expect to hear a variety of Catholic and inspirational
programming, including local programming featuring Toledo Diocese
Bishop Leonard Blair and Catholic School/Youth Organization sporting
events. The station is expected to reach listeners as far west as
Swanton, north to the Michigan state line, east to Bono, and south to
Bowling Green.
