Taking it to the Street – Downtown Sylvania Street Festival

“Taking it to the Streets – Downtown Sylvania”, a family friendly street festival, sponsored by SHOP Sylvania will be held on Main Street in Sylvania on Thursday July 1, 2010 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM. The streets will be closed in from the Sylvania Historical Village to Monroe St.

The event will be held during the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Week and celebrate Sylvania’s welcome to the golfers. This event will feature children’s activities conducted by Heroes, the Party, Over the Rainbow Early Learning Center and the Sylvania Franciscan Academy and the Sylvania Area Fire Department Safety Trailer on display. There will be several entertainment venues featuring America’s Pride and Mitch Kahl. A Show and Shine car show featuring about 200 vehicles will be featured and a people choice and best of show trophy will be awarded.

Downtown Sylvania restaurants Jenna’s, J & G Pizza, Chandler’s Cafe and Treo will be open, and street vendors will feature refreshments and carnival fare. Miller beer and wines will be featured at the event. The event is sponsored by Sylvania Are Chamber of Commerce, The Toledo Blade and the City of Sylvania.

Several downtown businesses plan to stay open and reconnect the retail community to local residents and this opportunity will highlight the community during the tournament week.
