TSO to Perform in Carnegie Hall in May 2011
In anticipation of the TSO trip to Carnegie Hall in 2011, the orchestra will celebrate the 2011 New Year in style with a gala celebration. The NYC Kickoff Celebration will feature Toledo’s own Stanley Cowell, a renowned jazz pianist, and Toledo Mayor Mike Bell, narrating Lincoln Portrait by Aaron Copland. The concert will feature works premiered at Carnegie Hall (Dvorak’s New World Symphony, Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphosis) as well as works by NYC composers (Gershwin, Bernstein, Copland).
Family Series Returns – Including Popular Spooktacular
The Family Series makes its return to the TSO. The TSO will partner with a different family-friendly nonprofit for each concert, including The Toledo Museum of Art (Halloween Spooktacular), Toledo-Lucas County Library (Lemony Snicket’s The Composer is Dead), Imagination Station (Science of Sound), and the Metroparks of the Toledo Area (Spring for Music!). Pre-concert activities will encourage families to explore the cultural riches of the region. All concerts are at 3PM on Sundays in the Peristyle. A free child subscription comes with every paid adult subscription.
Ticket packages are available by calling the Symphony at 419-246-8000 or visiting www.toledosymphony.com.
