Lourdes Fall Music Showcase celebrates composer centennials? Featuring music of Samuel Barber, Frederic Chopin, Frank Loesser and Robert Schumann
On Sunday, October 10, the Lourdes College Department of Music will present its Fall Music Showcase at 3 p.m. in the Franciscan Theatre and Conference Center. Lourdes faculty, students and choirs will perform the following three mini-concerts:
Opening Concert – 3 p.m.?Vocal and instrumental music featuring Lourdes Music faculty, students and guests celebrates the bicentennial birth year of Frederic Chopin and Robert Schumann and the centennial of Samuel Barber’s birth. ??The Moody Flutes and other Musical Surprises– 4 p.m.?This well-known Toledo ensemble showcases the entire flute family in a potpourri of music written or arranged just for flutes—those who have never seen or heard an alto or bass flute should not miss this!
?Choral Finale: Celebrating the Music of Frank Loesser– 5p.m. ?The Lourdes Choirs are celebrating the 1910 birth of Tin Pan Alley, Broadway and Movie composer Frank Loesser with music from Guys and Dolls, The Most Happy Fella, Where’s Charley and Hans Christian Andersen and more.
The Fall Music Showcase is free and open to the public. A concluding reception for performers and the audience will follow at 6 p.m. For more information please contact Karen T.
