NW Ohio SCORE Celebrates 45th Anniversary by Honoring Successful Clients
Local SCORE Chapter Will Host Client Recognition Event for Local Entrepreneurs
(Toledo, Ohio) – SCORE celebrates 45 years of volunteer service and mentoring to help small businesses start up, grow and succeed. Northwest Ohio SCORE will honor the important role that small businesses play in the economy with a Client Recognition Breakfast on Tuesday, September 21st, at 7:30 AM at Brandywine Country Club. Northwest Ohio SCORE has offered small business mentoring and training services to thirteen counties in northwest Ohio since 1965. In 2009, forty Northwest Ohio SCORE volunteers provided more than 1300 total counseling services, helping entrepreneurs with free mentoring and advice, especially important during a recession. SCORE is a nonprofit association, and a resource partner with the Small Business Administration. The mission of SCORE is to provide resources and expertise to maximize the success of existing and emerging small businesses.
“The 45th anniversary of Northwest Ohio SCORE is the perfect time to raise awareness of the entrepreneurial spirit that drives the American economy,” says local SCORE chapter chair, Phil Fittante. “At our Client Recognition event, we will recognize a group of our more successful business clients, both existing businesses and new start-ups.” The volunteer members of Northwest Ohio SCORE have extensive experience in counseling both new and existing business owners on a wide range of topics.
Nationally, SCORE provides free and confidential business mentoring to more than 350,000 small business clients each year. There are 364 SCORE chapters throughout the United States, and more than 150,000 volunteers. Since 1964, SCORE “Counselors to America’s Small Business” has assisted more than 8.5 million small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs through counseling and small business workshops. There are 27.2 million small businesses in America, and 627,200 new businesses opened in 2008. Small businesses represent 99.7% of U.S. employers, and are responsible for about 75% of the new jobs created each year.
