PRIZM Perspectives
PRIZM Creative Community’s fall show “PRIZM Perspectives” featuring members’ original visual and literary art opens Monday morning Oct 17th, at the Maumee Library Gallery and Hallway Showcase at at 501 River Road, Maumee. This show is free and open to the public and includes three-dimensional work as well as PRIZM’s 2010 Creative Challenge entries. The gallery is open daily during regular library hours and the show closes on Monday Nov 29th.
PRIZM members are diverse in their creativity their works includes photos, watercolors, oil and acrylics, and multimedia visual art as well as literary works of poetry, short stories, and Haiku. Fused glass works and turned wood vessels will be displayed as part of three-dimensional art.
While PRIZM Perspectives remains an excellent opportunity for PRIZM members to display their work, it is an occasion for others to learn of creative opportunities available to all local artists from novice to professional. PRIZM’s mission includes providing a range of affordable workshops, demonstrations and opportunities to display that encourage and inspire local artists.
This year’s Creative Challenge named “Charmed & Be Charmed” is miniatures. For this challenge PRIZM members are invited to use materials with any kind of creative technique. Examples are miniature portrait, landscape, base relief, three-dimensional sculpture, jeweled charm, weaving, sculpting, painting, hot or warm glass techniques, beading, metalworking, collage etc. Charm and Be Charmed miniatures use only a small display space while adding very unique artwork to the show.
PRIZM Creative Community is a 501 c. 3 nonprofit organization currently receiving partial funding from the Ohio Arts Council and Toledo Community Foundation.
