Join the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library for Teen Read Week™ Celebration in October. The Library LOVES its teen patrons, so keep reading to see what the Library has in store.
What is Teen Read Week? - Join the more than 5,000 librarians and educators nationwide who will celebrate Teen Read Week™, October 17-23. (A campaign promoted by the American Library Association). This year's theme is Books with Beat @ your library®," which encourages teens to read poetry, audiobooks, books about music and more. Libraries across the world celebrate Teen Read Week™ with a variety of special events and programs aimed at encouraging teens to read for pleasure and to visit their libraries for free reading materials.
Check out the programs the Library has scheduled for Teen Read Week™ – Books with Beat:
· The Metro @ Main Library – Books with Beat! Monday, Oct 18-Saturday, Oct 23 during normal Library hours.
· The Metro @ Main Library - Catch the Beat: A Poetry Open Mic Night Tuesday, Oct 19 6:30-8 pm. Join our host David Bush, founder of the Madd Poets Society, for an evening of poetry, and you can be the star of the show! Sign up in advance at the Metro Reference Desk to reserve a bit of time to share your own words. Of course, we need a great audience too, so come to hear even if you're too nervous to join in - David may make you change your mind!

· Heatherdowns Branch Library - Listen to your Books Teen Café! Tuesday, Oct 19; 4-5pm
