Veterans Writing Workshop
Veterans Writing Workshop
Creative Writing for US Armed Forces Personnel, Active and Retired
Sponsored by the Sylvania Branch Library and Lourdes College
(Released October 5, 2010) - Amy Hartman, Adult Services Librarian at the Sylvania Branch Library, and Holly Baumgartner, Professor of English at Lourdes College, are scheduled to conduct a workshop of thought-provoking writing and reading exercises intended to encourage all veterans, active and retired, to write about their experiences for their own benefit, or to share with friends and family.
Attendees will learn about the Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project, which started in the year 2000 through the American Folklife Center. The project collects, preserves and makes accessible the personal accounts of American veterans so future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war.
