TOLEDO, OHIO–There’s still time to enter the Toledo Museum of Art Winter Ball Film Festival. The festival will spotlight innovative winter-inspired short films with the premier screening of the best entries at the Winter Ball in December.

The juried competition is open to both amateur and professional filmmakers. Each winter-themed video must be less than four minutes in length. Up to 15 videos will be chosen for the festival.

Judges will look for videos that create an art experience with a contemporary theme. Films must be inspired by winter and be innovative, original and surprising, regardless of genre, technique or budget.

Entrants may use animation, motion graphics, narrative, non-narrative, time-based still image
and other production techniques. Typical “home video” will not be considered. Submissions must contain only original work and should not have been created for commercial purposes or made in an entrant’s professional capacity for profit. Individuals may submit up to three films each. Those under the age of 18 must have parental permission to enter.

Entries are being accepted online until Nov. 12.

Filmmakers whose entries are chosen for screening will be notified by Dec. 3 and will receive an invitation to attend the Winter Ball, a fundraiser to support the Museum’s community ArtReach programs. Films shown at the Winter Ball also will be screened at the Museum at a later date.

More details, including a prospectus and submission information, are available on the Museum’s
website at toledomuseum.org/events.
