Country Musician Natalie Stovall to Perform at Lourdes

Posted: Wednesday, November 3, 2010 by: Heather Hoffman | Category: Arts and Entertainment

Having grown up in the heart of country music territory, singer and songwriter Natalie Stovall is
bringing her talents to Lourdes College on Friday, November 19. Performing since the age of 10, Natalie has already appeared on Oprah and was a member of the Opryland Kids Club, wowing crowds with her fiddle playing and singing talents. Additionally, she was the first performer ever to be invited to sing God Bless America for the President at the White House Press Correspondents Dinner.

She attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston and as a student, formed the country band
Green Line South. The band performed throughout the east coast and in Nashville, eventually releasing an independent album featuring songs written by Natalie. After school, Natalie returned to Nashville to pursue a career in country music. Since then, she has released two albums – Late Night Conversations (2006) and Standing My Ground (2010).

For her latest album, Standing My Ground, producers enlisted veterans Pat Buchanan, Greg Morrow, Tony Harrel and Alison Prestwood, and the result is a record full of blue-eyed soul and Memphis grooves. “It really is country-soul, more of a Bonnie Raitt-Ronnie Milsap kind of thing,” shares Natalie. “Some of the songs rock pretty hard, but the majority are very old-school. I’m really pleased with how it’s taken shape. It may not be ‘country’ in the Hank Williams sense of the word, but you know… I grew up in Columbia, Tennnessee, I am country…and this is my music.”

Natalie Stovall performs in the Franciscan Theatre & Conference Center of Lourdes College at
8:30 p.m. The event is free with a Lourdes ID or $10 per person. For more information, please contact Lisa Binkowski, Director of Campus Activities and Residential Life, at [email protected].
