Independent Advocates announces their 2nd Annual IA Party
On Saturday November 20, 2010 Toledo-based Independent Advocates will host their second annual Independent Action Party at Downtown Toledo’s Historic Secor Building. The party begins at 8 pm and ends at 12 am. Tickets are $25 in advance through www.iatoledo.org or $30 at the door.
Independent Advocates is a social change organization focusing on improving the community’s response to Domestic Violence. IA provides comprehensive court advocacy to survivors of domestic violence, community education to young people about healthy relationships, and training to professionals about the dynamics of domestic violence. Independent Advocates seeks to raise the standards of advocacy in Lucas County. IA also promotes the message that “It’s OUR responsibility to STOP domestic violence!”.
Independent Advocates is supported by grants, public and private donations, and fund raising events like the Independent Action Party.
The 2nd Annual Independent Action Party will be a night of varied entertainment and treats. There will be a silent art auction with pieces by Richard Reed, Jules Webster, Jason Vahle, Har Simrit- Singh, and many more. Music will be provided by local DJs Mattimoe and Tina G and live bands The Faux Paus and The Cheap Celebz. Local food will be featured. There will also be a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses. This party is sure to be an excellent time and for a very important local cause.
