TBG Presents a Free Weekend of Holiday Festivities
Heralding the Holidays December 3 -5, 2010
Toledo, OH – Have a truly enjoyable holiday shopping experience while strolling through the beautiful winter gardens at Toledo Botanical Garden during Heralding the Holidays, a free holiday festival with fun activities for the entire family.
Heralding the Holidays
Friday, December 3, 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Friday evening features free horse-drawn wagon rides
and a tree lighting celebration at 7 pm
Saturday, December 6, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday, December 7, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Local artists and TBG’s resident arts and horticulture organizations will offer a wide variety of gifts for sale including pottery, glass, jewelry, wearables, herbal products, baked goods, beauty products, photographs, holiday décor, paintings and much more.
In addition to the unique art and crafts for sale from local artisans, the weekend will feature a diverse variety of live entertainment; arts and crafts for kids; and delicious concessions, such as hot dogs, coffee, and hot cocoa. In addition, the Pioneer Cabin (originally the Peter Navarre Cabin) will be open all weekend long so visitors can discover its rich historic tradition. The Blair Museum of Lithophanes—the largest lithophane museum in the country and home to over 2,300 antique lithophanes—will also be open during the weekend and offering free tours.
Musicians who will lend their talents to the weekend’s entertainment include guitarists Stephen Masternak, Tim Oehlers, and Christopher Joseph; Harpnotic; the acapella group Collaborations; roaming singer Charlene Ransom; Lyle Crots and his musical saw; the Root Cellar Old Time String Band; and the Maumee Valley Country Day Singers.
There is no charge for admission or parking and all activities are free as well.
TBG gates will remain open until 8 pm 7 days a week throughout the month of December for visitors to stroll the Garden and enjoy the light displays.
