Holiday Begins Nov. 20 at Levis Commons
PERRYSBURG, Ohio ¬ The Town Center at Levis Commons celebrates the 2010 holiday season in great style, beginning with a tree lighting ceremony on Nov. 20 and with daily activities through December.
Santa will be the star when the holiday gets underway at the Nov. 20 tree lighting ceremony. He arrives at 6:00 p.m., escorted down the Town Center’s main boulevard by baton twirlers from Perrysburg Sophisticates. Entertainment on the stage runs from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., including performances by local artists Kerry Patrick Clark, Gina Granados and Sheri LaFontaine, as well as a presentation from Julie’s Dance Studio. At 8:00 p.m. Mary Beth and Rick from 101.5 The River will lead the crowd in a countdown to bring over 150,000 lights to life on the spectacular 50-foot tree.
Santa will be available to talk with children of all ages from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Nov. 20, and will be stationed in his workshop (located near the Center’s fountain) throughout the holiday season (visitors should bring their own cameras to record the moment):
• Friday, Nov. 26 – Sunday, Dec. 19: Fridays from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Saturdays from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.; and Sundays from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
• Monday, Dec. 20 – Thursday, Dec. 23: daily from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In addition, children can leave their letters for Santa in the mailbox next to his workshop. Letters with a return address will get a personal response from Santa, and every week a selection of letters will be published in the Perrysburg Messenger Journal.
Also beginning on Nov. 20, enjoy magical horse-drawn carriage rides through the Center each Friday and Saturday evening (6:00 to 9:00 p.m.) through Dec. 18. The carriage rides, which pick up passengers on Chappel Drive, are priced at $5 per person or $10 per family.
The Center’s annual Breakfast with Santa is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 11 from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn. Santa will host seatings at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., and guests may also enjoy crafts and other activities during the event. Tickets must be purchased in advance, either online at www.ShopLevisCommons.com or in the Management Office.
The Center will use the holiday season to collect donations for Hannah’s Socks, a locally based, national, non-profit organization dedicated to providing new socks and undergarments for those in need. Those attending the Nov. 20 tree lighting ceremony can bring sock donations, or they can be dropped at collection centers at Second Sole, Shoe Dept. and Stride Rite through Dec. 31.
To jumpstart the charitable giving season, the first 20 customers to drop off a donation for Hannah’s Socks to Second Sole before Nov. 18 will receive a pair of tickets to the screening of “Tangled” at Rave Levis Commons on Nov. 20 at 10:00 a.m.
The Center will offer extended holiday shopping hours beginning on Nov. 29: Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6:00 p.m. The Center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, and will be open on Christmas Eve from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Center’s hours on New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31) and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1, 2011) will be 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Gift cards, which can be used at most of the stores, restaurants and theater at the Center, can be purchased online, at Lily’s or in the Management Office during regular business hours.
In January, The Town Center will hold its second annual Play It Forward toy drive. Customers can donate gently used toys outside Rave Levis Commons on Jan. 7 and 8 from noon until 6:00 p.m.
