Zoo Offers Free Weekend for Lucas County Residents
The Toledo Zoo is extremely grateful to the voters of Lucas County for their continuing support! To celebrate this special partnership, the Zoo is offering FREE admission to all Lucas County residents from Saturday, January 15 through Monday, January 17. Lucas County residents must show ID demonstrating proof of residency to receive free admission. They will also receive coupons offering special discounts on future visits to the Zoo.
Over the course of the weekend, visitors will enjoy all of the usual programming that is part of Frozentoesen Winter Weekends. On Saturday, January 15, an ice-carving demonstration will take place in the Main Plaza at 11:00 a.m. Meanwhile in the Museum of Science, an inflatable bounce house will give kids a chance to bounce around and blow off some steam! Also on Saturday, the NASA Challenger Learning Center will present hands-on activities, including mini rocket demonstrations from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Museum’s Great Hall.
On Saturday and Sunday, join puppeteer Joyce Davis in the Museum’s Indoor Theatre. Performance times are 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. In addition, Nature’s Neighborhood will offer even more activities and animal encounters throughout the day!
The free weekend is the Zoo’s way of thanking Lucas County voters, who have demonstrated their ongoing support for the Zoo. Through passage of the Zoo’s Operating Levies in 2006, the Zoo has been able to maintain its reputation as a world-class zoological institution and a top regional attraction. In addition, Lucas County’s support for the Zoo’s Capital Levy has made it possible for the Zoo to develop the new Nature’s Neighborhood, and plan major renovations of the elephant exhibit and Aquarium.
The Toledo Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located on the Anthony Wayne Trail (US 25), four miles south of downtown Toledo.
