7th Annual Seed Swap Kicks Off the Gardening Season
Saturday, February 26 - Free and open to the public
at the Erie Street Market (new location)

Toledo - Thousands of gardeners are expected at the 7th Annual Seed Swap, a gardeners pep rally to kick off the growing season. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn new skills and diversify their gardens by mingling with others and swapping favorite seeds and bulbs. The Seed Swap offers gardeners of all abilities exposure to new plants and helps preserve unique local and cultural strains, as many gardeners grow plants that are unique to their ethnicity or taste. There will also be activities for kids, workshops, music and more.

Toledo GROWs (Gardens Revitalize Our World), Toledo Botanical Garden's outreach program, educates people of all ages and ethnicities about how to grow fresh fruits, flowers and vegetables to improve their neighborhoods and build stronger communities. These grassroots efforts have lead to the creation of over 100 community gardens planted, tended, and cherished by neighborhood residents, churches, school groups and community centers.

Toledo Botanical Garden, a public/private partnership between the Metroparks of the Toledo Area and the Toledo Botanical Board, Inc. in collaboration with the City of Toledo, is open seven days a week during daylight hours with no admission fee, except during certain special events. The Garden is located at 5403 Elmer Dr., between Reynolds and Holland-Sylvania roads, just south of Central Avenue. Visitors may also enter from Bancroft Street although there is no vehicular access to the north side of the Garden from the Bancroft entrance.
